SENATOR WAQAR MEETS MALAYSIAN MINISTER FOR INTERNATIONAL TRADE-CHAIRMAN WIEF AND MALAYSIAN BUSINESSMEN

The Pakistan’s Minister for Privatisation Senator Waqar Ahmad Khan will hold bilateral talks with the Malaysian Minister for International Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Mustapha Mohammad, the Chairman WIEF Foundation Tun Mosa Hitam and Malaysian top Businessman and investors on the side-lines of 6th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) being held in Kuala Lampur on 19-20 May, 2010. The Minister arrived at Kuala Lumpur today to attend the 6th WIEF Forum, says a message received from Kuala Lumpur today.

Both Pakistan and Malaysia have already agreed to establish separate working groups to examine the possibility of collaboration in Halal trade including rice, mangoes, oranges milk and milk based products and Halal meat. Pakistan could become Malaysia’s long terms partner for development of Halal Industry.

Malaysian Investors can also invest in Pakistan with promising returns such in sector as and agriculture, energy, construction, human resources development and information technology other areas of cooperation could be tourism, aviation, telecommunication and Islamic finance and media.

The Minister will also meet with the Chairman WIEF Tun Mosa bin Hitam to discuss ways and means to turn WIEF into a vibrant practical and result oriented forum capable of bringing qualitative change in the lives of people of the member States.

The Minister is scheduled to meet members of the pro-term Committee of Malaysian chapter of Pakistan Malaysian Joint Business Council (JBC) to discuss expedient launching of Malaysian chapter of Pakistan –Malaysian JBC and to promote cooperation and networking between traders, businessmen and investors of both the countries. The Pakistan Federal Chamber of Commerce and Industry has already established the Pakistan chapter of Joint Business Council whereas, Malaysian chapter of JBC will be launched in the coming days.

The Minister is also likely to interact with various media houses of Malaysia, including Bernama the only official news agency of Malaysia, Utusan, the most highly circulated Malay language newspaper of Malaysia, TV-3 the most covered TV channel of Malaysia, besides, appearing in one to one, interviews with coveted Leader’s Magazine and Bloomberg TV.
