SENATOR WAQAR LEAVES FOR MALAYSIA TO REPRESENT PAKISTAN AT WIEF

The Federal Minister for Privatisation Senator Waqar Ahmad has left today for
Kula Lumpur Malaysia to represent Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani in the
6th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) being held in Kulala Lumpur on May 19,
2010.
Senator Waqar will make a detailed presentation regarding Pakistan’s economic
policies and will brief the heads of States and Governments regarding the
investment and business opportunities in the brown and green fields projects
in Pakistan. The Minister will also hold separate meetings with the heads of
the States/ governments to discuss matters pertaining to bilateral issues and
top business leaders for the promotion of economic and business relations
among the member countries.
Pakistan is setting up a big pavilion in the 6th WIEF exhibition to showcase
its quality products, including mangoes, handicraft, women garments,
traditional jewelry and other such products. Besides this Pakistan would also
be represented business’s Forum and young leader’s Forum. These will precede
the 6th WIEF. WIEF is expected to bring together some 2000 participants,
comprising world leaders and members of the global business community to
discuss ideas and strategies on global issues affecting trade and business and
to network with each other on cross-border business opportunities.
WIFE Forum has been instrumental in providing a plat-form for thought
provoking dialogue to provide synergistic solutions to key economic issues of
interest to the Muslim world and to bridge the economic gap between the Muslim
and non-Muslim World by taking the current state of the global economy, from a
Muslim world perceptive.
The Forum will focus on forgoing cooperation among members state in areas,
such as tourism, logistic, SME’s water management, branding, technology for
education, entrepreneurship and business ethics, innovation and Islamic
banking. The forum is expected to be attended by half a dozen World leaders,
including Sultan of Brunei, Presidents of Indonesia, Senegal, Maldives, and
the Prime Minister of BD.
