PAKISTAN -GREECE ECONOMIC TIES TO BE STRENGTHENED-Says Senator Waqar Ahmed Khan

The Federal Minister for Privatisation Senator Waqar Ahmed Khan expressed the hope that economic ties between Pakistan and Greece would be further strengthened with the forth-coming visit of the Greek Prime Minister for which the private sector of the two countries could also play a major role. The Minister stated this during a meeting with the Ambassador at large and Special Envoy of the Greek Prime Minister Mr. Demetri Dollis here today.

Senator Waqar Ahmed Khan further stated that Pakistan had a very liberal investment climate, with remarkable incentives for both local and foreign investors. The improving economic indicators and the strategic location of Pakistan gives access to the investors to a region of three billion people. We look forward to the Greek investors/ business groups visiting Pakistan to explore and identify the investment & privatisation opportunities and to take advantage of the facilities being extended to the private sector, he said.

The Minister appreciated the introduction of legislation in the Greek parliament seeking to grant citizenship as well as voting right to the Pakistani immigrants, which was an acknowledgment endorsed to democratic policies of Pakistan and this move would further bring the people of both the countries more closer. Pakistan was a growing economy

The Special Envoy of the Greek Prime Minister Mr. Demetri Dollis stated that Greece would make efforts to strengthen economic relations by exploring new avenues and opportunities for the promotion of investment and trade relations between the two countries. Mr. Petros Mavroidis Greek envoy to Pakistan was also present in the meeting.
