US INVESTORS TO IDENTIFY PROJECTS UNDER PRIVATISATION PROGRAM-US Envoy meets SENATOR WAQAR AHMED KHAN

The US investors team to identify the areas and projects to take part in the Privatisation Program. Ms. Anne W. Paterson US envoy to Pakistan expressed these views during a meeting with Senator Waqar Ahmed Khan Federal Minister for Privatisation here today.

The Minister welcomed the US investor’s indication to participate in Pakistan’s Privatisation Program and hoped that it would enhance the interaction between the investors of both the countries.

Senator Waqar Ahmed Khan Federal Minister for Privatisation said that the government was committed to make Pakistan stable by setting the milestones to maximize profits of Public Sector Entities through value addition. World’s major investment houses were showing keen interest to join hands for making the Public Sector Entities profitable prior to presenting their 26 % shares with management control to the private sector, he said.

He further informed that the new devised policy would be focused to bring in efficiency and improvement in the Public Sector Entities to increase the value of national assets and not to go for out right sale.

The envoy informed the Minister that the US entrepreneurs already working in Pakistan were having continued interest to work and safeguard their businesses in Pakistan and were looking forward to the opportunities to further increase their operations by expanding the existing projects and to explore new avenues for investment. Economic officials of the Mission accompanied her.
