WAQAR TARGETS MAXIMIZATION OF PRIVATISATION PROCEEDS WITH UTMOST TRANSPARENT PROCESS & IN ACCORDANCE WITH RULES

The Privatisation Commission should be vibrant with a target to maximize the sale proceeds by exercising utmost transparency and through a fair process in accordance with the prevailing rules, regulations and procedures. Senator Waqar Ahmed Khan Federal Minister for Privatisation stated this while chairing a meeting of the Privatisation Commission after the assumption of new portfolio here today.

The Minister urged upon the officials of the Privatisation Commission to adopt international practices for improving image of Pakistan as an investment friendly country for making effective efforts to attract the investors.

He said that the democratic government was fully determined to carryout the privatisation of SOE transactions in the interest of the 170 million people of Pakistan, he added.

He directed the Privatisation Commission officials to put up realistic timeline for the privatisation of Cabinet Committee on Privatisation (CCOP) approved public sector entities in a professional manner.

Earlier, Mr. Shahab Anwar Khawaja Secretary Privatisation Commission briefed the Minister regarding the status of the ongoing and upcoming transactions, which would be further reviewed sector wise. All senior officials of Privatisation Ministry and Commission were present during the meeting.
