NAVEED QAMAR DIRECTS TO FURTHER STRENGTHEN AUDITOR GENERAL THROUGH PACs TO OVERCOME DELAYS AND BACKLOGS

Syed Naveed Qamar Federal Minister for Finance, Economic Affairs, Revenues, Privatisation & Investment directed to further strengthen the Auditor General of Pakistan by streamlining the accounting procedures through Public Accounts Committees (PACs) in order to bring in transparency, efficiency and effectiveness. The Finance Minister stated this during a meeting with Syed Tanvir Ali Agha Auditor General of Pakistan who called on him here today.

The Finance Minister indicated that the Rules and Regulations pertaining to the Audit would be made more effective and the procedures of the Public Accounts Committees (PACs) would be changed to this extent that the delays and backlogs could be overcome.

During the meeting the departments and organizations identified for the purpose include National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Higher Education Commission (HEC), Privatisation Commission (PC), Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP), various local governments and other departments. More organizations and departments would be included in this process accordingly to ensure economy and justified spending of public exchequer in accordance with the enforced rules and regulations, the meeting decided.
