TRANSPARENCY & EFFICIENCY TO REMAIN HALLMARK OF PRIVATISATION ACTIVITY- Awais Leghari

The transparency and efficiency will remain hallmark of privatisation activity. Mr. Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari Federal Minister for Privatisation & Investment stated this while chairing the Privatisation Commission Board meeting here today.

Addressing the Board members Mr. Awais Leghari said that he would do his best to come up to the expectations of the Prime Minister who assigned him this responsibility and would try to continue the pace of privatisation activity set by his predecessor Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh.

Paying rich tribute to the services of Dr. Hafeez Shaikh, the Minister termed Dr. Shaikh's tenure as golden era of privatisation during which the biggest transaction of the country's privatisation history was conducted.

The PC board also formulated certain recommendations regarding various transactions for approval of the Cabinet Committee on Privatisation, which is scheduled to meet on March 31, 2006 under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister.

Mr. M. Tahsin Khan Iqbal Secretary Privatisation Commission conducted the meeting and welcome the Minister on behalf of the Ministry P & I, PC members and staff. Members of the Board of the Privatisation Commission, senior officials of the respective Ministries and departments attended the meeting.
