KUWAITI BUSINESS GROUPS KEEN TO TAKE PART IN PAKISTAN's PRIVATISATION AND INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES- TEAM TO VISIT PAKISTAN SOON

Islamabad, June 20, 2006

Mr. Zahid Hamid Federal Minister for Privatisation & Investment appreciated the role of Pak-Kuwait Investment Company and other Kuwaiti investors in promoting industrial activities in Pakistan. He said that Kuwaiti Business Groups/ investors would be facilitated to invest in any sector of their  choice. Business groups of both the countries should sit together to identify new avenues for enhancing the existing economic relations. Mr. Zahid Hamid stated this in a meeting with the visiting Finance Minister of Kuwait Mr. Bader Mishari Al-Humaidi here today.

The Minister briefed the envoy regarding Pakistan's investment privatisation, and its policy, process and program. He said that there was a need to accelerate efforts to further strengthen our close brotherly relations and increase commercial interaction, including investment and trade. Pakistan is the most promising area in the region for local and foreign investors for business activity in almost all the sectors. Pakistan would continue to provide new investment avenues with liberal incentives for the private sector in the region, he added.

Finance Minister of Kuwait Mr. Bader Mishari Al-Humaidi appreciated the economic performance of Pakistan and the investor friendly climate and said that Kuwaiti Business groups /Companies were keen to explore opportunities for investment in various sectors. A full fledge team of Kuwaiti Business groups and investors would soon visit Pakistan to identify the areas of interest. There was a need to increase the number of flights and carriers to and from Pakistan to Kuwait, he said.

Leaders of both brotherly countries were determined to bring the people and governments still closer and to strengthen their existing relations through  accelerating the pace of economic cooperation and interaction, he added.
