MALAYSIAN INVESTORS KEEN TO INVEST IN ENERGY & TOURISM

A delegation of Malaysian investors led by Tan Sri Abd Rahim Mohamad Executive Chairman Eden Enterprise expressed their keen interest to invest in Pakistan in Energy, Tourism, Food & Beverage and other sectors on immediate basis. The leader of the delegation informed this during a meeting  with Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh Federal Minister for Privatisation & Investment here today.

While appreciating the Malaysian investors interest Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh Federal Minister for Privatisation & Investment said that Pakistan was open for investment in all sectors. He stated that Pakistan offered maximum incentives to the investors as compare to the other countries of the region.

The Minister further assured the delegation of all possible facilitation during the implementation of their investment projects. Pakistan's upcoming single country exhibition in Malaysia being held in first week of October 2005 would attract large number of Malaysian companies for investment in Pakistan's various sectors, he hoped.

The leader of Malaysian investors delegation Tan Sri Abd Rahim Mohamad informed the Minister that investment to the tune of US $ 1 billion has been made available for two projects in the energy sector, which have been approved by Private Power Infrastructure Board (PPIB). A 200 MW green project was being established on Zamzama Gas field in Dadu while 655 MW Sukki Kanari Hydro Power project has been planned in Naran, he said.

He added that the consistency and continuity of Pakistan's economic policies have generated confidence among the foreign investors and a number of Malaysian companies were keenly interested to invest in Pakistan, which has emerged as a promising market.
