MAURITIUS PAKISTAN AGREE TO INCREASE TRADE

A Mauritius delegation led by permanent Secretary to the Prime Minister of Mauritius Mr. N.K. Ballah held a meeting with Secretary Board of Investment Mr. Jahangir Bashar here today.

During the discussion both sides agreed to have frequent exchange of visits  by the respective private sector representatives to increase trade and investment between both the countries. They also discussed the areas of cooperation and decided to hold 'Made in Pakistan' exhibition at Mauritius for identifying the new avenues and opportunities for investment and collaboration.

The leader of the delegation Mr. N.K. Ballah said that Mauritius and Pakistan enjoyed long sustained privileged relationship and in order to promote them there was need to establish joint working group between both the countries and to finalise Preferential Trade Agreement.

Mr. Jahangir Bashar Secretary BOI said that continuity and consistency of the government's economic policies was a positive and important signal for investors. The macro economic stabilization, the growing economy in the privatisation and deregulation environment has made Pakistan a safe haven for investors, he said.

He added that tourism, housing, construction etc were among the fast  growing sectors in the country and Mauritius business groups could participate freely to make profit in these areas.

The Secretary BOI elucidated the facilities being extended through BOI to the investors while providing a level playing field to both foreign and local investors.
