A leading Jordanian investors group led by Dr. Jawad A. Anani of Shaheen
Business and Investment Group currently visiting Pakistan has expressed keen
interest in Power, Petroleum & Natural Resources, Cement, Tourism, Housing and
Gawadar Industrial Estate projects in Pakistan.
The Group leader Dr. Jawad Anani expressed these views in a meeting with Dr.
Abdul Hafeez Shaikh Federal Minister for Privatisation & Investment here
today.
Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh said that Pakistan offers unprecedented opportunities
to the foreign investors with unmatchable incentives in the region to both the
local and the foreign investors with a level playing field. The foreign
investors have no restriction on the equity and the repatriation of gains on
their business. All ministries and the departments were ready to give full
comfort to the investors for smooth functioning of their prospective plans, he

region because of the consistency and continuity of the economic, investment
and privatisation policies under the dynamic leadership of President General
Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz. There was a vast scope for
the group to participate in the Privatisation Program of Pakistan, which
offered the management control of Faisalabad Electric Power Company (FESCO),
Jamshoro Power Generation, Pakistan Steel Mills Corporation and Sui Northern
and Sui Southern Gas Transmission and Distribution Companies.

opportunities in the industry & tourism sectors industrialestate
in Gawadar and housing projects in the capital. The group also showed interest
in the privatisation process particularly the power generation and gas
transmission and distribution sectors.
