HAFEEZ LEAVES FOR USA TO ATTEND ECOSOC CONFERENCE

Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh Federal Minister for Privatisation & Investment left today on an official visit to New York to deliver his keynote address in a special high-level meeting of United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the Bretton Woods Institution, the World Trade Organisation and United Nations Conference on Trade & Development being held  on April 18, 2005 at UN Headquarters.

The objective of the event is to address issues of coherence, coordination  and cooperation as follow up to the international conference on financing and development. The intention is to create a free-flowing dialogue between a panel of Ministers, senior officials and the high level participants of ECOSOC. The meeting has special significance as a first of a series of key events aimed to contribute to an effective outcome of the September Summit, which will review the implementation of the Millennium Declaration.

The Minister will also interact with international participants and brief them about the economic policies and economic reform agenda being pursued by the Government. The Minister will also hold meeting with targeted investors and businessmen in USA to brief them regarding the Privatisation Program and Investment opportunities in Pakistan.
