A Committee on Power Sector Privatisation constituted by the Cabinet
Committee on Privatisation met here today under the chairmanship of the Dr.
Abdul Hafeez Shaikh Federal Minister for Privatisation & Investment.
The Committee considered the concerns and the risks perceived by the
investors for the privatisation of Faisalabad electric Supply Company (FESCO),
Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) and Jamshoro Power Company (JPC)
to formulate recommendations for the CCOP for providing full comfort to the
potential investors.
The Committee considered in detail the regulatory and policy concerns
regarding the aforementioned power sector entities and discussed a number of
proposals and options for the consideration of CCOP for resolving the
concerns.
The other members of the Committee included Secretary Ministry of Water &
Power, Secretary Ministry of Privatisation, Additional Secretary Finance
(CF), Member NEPRA and the Financial Advisors IFC and PricewaterhouseCooper
were present during the meeting.
