HAFEEZ LEAVES TO ATTEND IMF MENA REGION CONFERENCE AT WASHINGTON DC

Islamabad, April 2, 2004

Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Federal Minister for Privatisation & Investment is leaving tonight for Washington DC, USA to attend the IMF high-level Conference on "The Middle East and North America (MENA) Region: Challenges of Growth & Globalisation" being held at IMF Headquarters on April 7-8, 2004.

The two-day conference will focus to stimulate policy debate on the experience of growth and economic reform and to explore the policy implications for the countries in the MENA region. Senior policy experts from the region, representatives of regional organizations and leading academics are participating in the moot.

Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh will brief the delegates regarding the Government of Pakistan's economic policies and the economic reform agenda and the attractive investment and privatisation opportunities being offered by Pakistan to the private sector investors.
