HAFEEZ SHAIKH ARRIVES BERLIN TO ATTEND PAKISTAN
BUSINESS DAY

Islamabad, SEPTEMBER 20, 2003

Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Federal Minister for Privatisation has arrived Berlin today as head of a Pakistani delegation to participate as keynote speaker in Pakistan Business Day being organized at Berlin on September 22, 2003 jointly by Deutsch-Pakistanisches Forum and Pakistan Embassy in collaboration with various German business groups and organizations, Pakistan-German Business Forum, Karachi and Pakistan's Board of Investment, says a message received here today.

The President General Pervez Musharraf's address to the German businessmen in Berlin during his recent official visit to Germany (June 30- July 2) has also stimulated further interest in the event among German business community. The German Chancellor had already announced to encourage German companies to invest in Pakistan in a joint press conference during President Musharraf's visit.

The aim of the Pakistan Business Day is to offer business opportunities to German Businessmen and experts, provide opportunities for contact between Pakistani and German Businessmen and to facilitate business partnership/ joint ventures between the two sides. The focus of Pakistan Business Day will be cooperation in the sectors of investment and privatisation policies, energy, water, environment, information technology and telecommunications. Dr. Alfred Tacke, Secretary of the German Ministry of Economy and Labour will address the opening session. A large number of the high profile Business Executives of various German companies has confirmed their participation in this event.
