Privatisation Commission Invites Bids For Sale Of Lasbella Textile Mills Assets

Islamabad, February 15, 2001

The Textile Processing Machinery of Lasbella Textile Mills is being offered for sale on 'as is where is' basis. Privatisation Commission has formally invited bids from the prospective bidders by March 14, 2001. It is a project of Iran Pakistan Industries (Pvt) Limited (IPI), situated at Uthal Balochistan, 135 kilometers from Karachi on RCD Highway. The sale is being conducted through a competitive bidding process.

The processing section is a part of a fully integrated unit of 50,000 spindles, 1100 looms with complete dyeing and finishing facilities of around 80,000 meter per day production capacity of variable width ranging from 36" to 96". The plant was set up in 1980 and was shut down in 1984 and as such machinery has been barely used and is very well maintained.

The list of the machinery being offered for sale is available free of cost from the offices of Privatisation Commission, Islamabad and Iran Pakistan Industries Ltd. Karachi. However, bidding documents can be obtained from PC office w.e.f. February 19, 2001 on any working day on payment of non-refundable fee of Rupees five thousands only. The interested parties can inspect the machinery on prior appointment. PC is also holding a pre-bid conference at the conference room of PIDC at Karachi on March 12, 2001 at 1100 hrs to facilitate a better understanding of the bidding process and respond to the queries of the prospective bidders regarding the sale of the machinery. The bidding shall be held on March 19, 2001 at 1000 hrs at the conference room of PIDC at PIDC House, Karachi, in a manner detailed in the 'instructions to bidders'.
